School Messenger Emergency Notification System With this emergency notification system, five phone numbers (home and additional phone numbers at which parents/guardians may be contacted) and two email addresses have been imported into the new School Messenger system. The information was taken from the Student Information Update Form parents completed in the spring or upon new student registration. Student records also contain Emergency Contact Information with the names of individuals the school may call if the parents are unavailable. The Emergency Contact Information is NOT imported into School Messenger. Parents have the option of adding one additional School Messenger contact number on each student’s record, whether it is a daycare provider or another number. If you need to add an additional phone number or make any corrections to your contact information, please notify the school office at elementary schools and the registrar’s office at secondary schools. Adding an additional phone number is NOT necessary, but an option for parents with unique circumstances. Unless you need to update phone numbers or emails, there is nothing more you need to do. It is that easy! Below are some Frequently Asked Questions which address additional questions you might have regarding School Messenger. Frequently Asked Questions What if I don’t have internet access? It really does not matter. All information is automatically updated by the district from manually completed registration forms. How can I check my currently listed phone numbers and emails in the Student Information System? The phone numbers came directly from the spring 2011-12 Student Information Update Form or new student registration information. The phone numbers and email information should be accurate unless you changed phone numbers or emails since that time. If your phone numbers or emails have changed, you should contact the school office at your elementary school or the registrar’s office at your secondary school. How many times will I be called if I have children in more than one school? All the phone numbers you list for a child will be dialed, but if the same number appears for sibling/s, it will not be redialed. You should NOT receive the same call twice on the same phone number. If you do, contact the school office at your elementary school or the registrar’s office at your secondary school so we can resolve the issue with School Messenger. Can more than five phone numbers and two emails be imported from the student registration information? Yes. One additional phone number can be added to School Messenger by contacting the school office at elementary school or the registrar’s office at your secondary school. Adding an additional number is optional. How do I change my email through Barrington Home Access? Go to the district Website and go to Parent Resources. Click Parent Home Access and sign in using your ID and password. If you do not have an ID and password, please contact your school office at your elementary school or the registrar’s office at your secondary school. Then click on email changes and follow the directions on the form. You may also contact the office at elementary schools or the registrar at secondary schools to request the change. Can I receive a text with School Messenger? No. What should I do if I do not receive a message during the test or I experience a problem? Contact the school office in elementary schools and the registrar’s office in secondary schools so the issue can be resolved. What other ways can I find out about school closures or emergencies besides School Messenger? Besides telephone and email, all information regarding schools closing will be posted on the Barrington 220 Website, on Facebook and Twitter, and released to local media. |
